first email spam

bah! we got our first spam (as our very first email *sigh*) last night sent to infoATyouthlib.com. where the heck is that even published? i want to think of a system of creating email addresses which are generic enough but informative and easily rotatable in case one of them gets overwhelmed w/ spam. sven, this is why i don't want to publish either of our email addresses on the site, why those addresses should only be given out to actual human beings. if you want a contact listed on the site, we ought to create a special one that will forward to wherever you want it to go.

One of the nifty features we've got here at pbo is SpamAssassin. If spam becomes an issue, I'll be happy to install the basic configuration to activate spamassassin protection for the appropriate accounts (or send an appropriate rundown).

One of the advantages of using the puddingbowl webmail interface is that it provides access to point-n-click spamassassin configuration options, making it e-z to blacklist and do bayesian/adaptive filtering.

In its native configuration, SA is a little too generous/not suspicious enough. I've gradually tweaked it down to the point where I see about one spam get through to my inbox a day against a total volume of over 100 spams a day from my business and personal addresses.
