Tweak some Movable Type settings?

A couple of tweaks I'd like done to both Notepad and Youthlib Dev:

1. Change settings so that the last seven postings are always visible. I don't think that postings should disappear after a set period... It's embarassing to go to one of these sites and see it totally blank.

2. Change the color of the postings' titles to red, or something that stands out better. Right now the postings' titles are slate gray, which blends in too much with the posts themselves. On a day when I make multiple postings, it's difficult to see where one ends and the next begins. [Especially if I have bold sub-headings within those posts!]

I was in the neighborhood, so I took care of this for both sites. Each shows the last 7 entries on the front page now.

Happy holidays.

Well, y'all should let me know what you'd like to know about working with MT templates. If you want, I can start annotating changes I make on the dev.youthlib templates so you can see how to apply them on the production blog.

i'd be all for that. having not really worked w/ mt before, i'm pretty sure i could figure it out, but it would take me longer than it would take you. the good news is that if it's annotated you'd probably only have to tell me once. :)

For continuity's sake, how's about we make the posting titles on Notepad the same color orange as the blog's title?

I care less about what color to switch titles to on the dev site, and would defer if gl. or mph is disinclined to fiddle with such a cosmetic thing there.

...With Notepad, though, I think it's a readability issue. My writing style uses so damn many sub-headings, it's important to be able to easily identify where one ends and the next begins (on a two posting day).

the dev site is a readability issue, too, but less crucial. in general, i'd like to see some indenting as well as color, but haven't fiddled with the templates. in general, when we figure out how the main page will look, notepad & the generator will then be tweaked to have complementray designs, so i'm not sure it needs to be done immediately.

I was in the mood, so I went ahead and did the tweaking of colors for Notepad and Dev myself. These don't need to be permanent changes -- just a temporary solution. Only took about 15 minutes poking around. The readability issue was really bugging me.

And hey -- I got to take a look at css stylesheet code, which was interesting.

I added some notes to the index template and did a site-wide rebuild so the stylesheet changes are reflected. Rebuilds are necessary any time you change anything. That's explained within my annotations.

They're sort of windy, so feel free to excise them as you get the gist. :-)
